FAQ

What are important factors in filtration?

There are many factors that affects the filtration properties, but some of the most important factors are the content of solids, particle sizes, temperature, PH value and more.

What can cause a longer filtration time?

If there is difficulties forming a filter cake, it can be needed to increase the solids content and using a thickener.

Why is the filtrate not clear in the beginning of a new cycle?

It will take some for the filter cake to start building up and create a precoat, and the liquid that passes through before this is done will not be filtrated as clear. Therefor it is common to loop the first filtrate back to the slurry, if you want to only have top quality filtrate.

How do you know when a cycle is finished?

At the end of a cycle you will experience build up of a higher pressure and filtrate flow will be very small. This indicates that the chamber is full and that a cake discharge is needed.

Can the filter cake be washed?

If you need to for example adjust the PH value of the filter cake, you can high pressure water at the end of a cycle to wash the filter cake.

Can the filter cake be dried?

If the filter cake is not dry enought, compressed air can be used to blow thru the filter cake to dry it even more.
